Summer out

The day started off like any other. August 9th, 2020. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday. A perfect blue sky like the eyes of a White Walker in Game of Thrones, white fluffy clouds which would put Snowball in Secret Life of pets to shame, birds singing and just a hint of chill in the atmosphere. A perfect day for an outing with friends and family. And that is exactly what had been planned for the day.

After a very long period of time being in lockdown, without getting to meet anyone The Rotaract Club of Kandy planned to have an outing with the club members. Face timing over social media networks is not just the same. Since the lockdown restrictions were pulled off the club decided to meet at the Suisse Hotel Kandy to blow off some steam and to boost the morale of the members. The day was promising. Being safe is a priority right now. And the club members were mindful to follow the health restrictions that were imposed by the government to keep everyone safe.

What makes a day magical is the time spent with our loved ones. An ordinary day could be turned into an extraordinary day with just simple conversation, and laughter shared among friends. The homey feeling of people having animated discussions across the dining table, the giggles, the laughter, and the friendly sarcasm, the teasings and jesters are what make friendships last longer. After a delicious lunch and some bonding time, everyone was eager to hit the pool.

The chill that was lingering in the air earlier had turned the sky a little grayer and the clouds looked as if they were about to cry a river. But this did not deter anyone from wanting to get into the swimming pool. Something about swimming pools makes people want to jump whatever the weather is. Soon enough rain started to pour down, music started to play in the background and the spirits of the members of the Rotaract Club of Kandy heightened. The combination of rain together with music gives the soul a sense of calm that none other could give. But rain, music combined with people who are closest to you would bring the most joyous moments experienced in life.

The rain stopped after a while but the fun did not. It was evident that this outing was a much-needed getaway everyone needed after being trapped up in homes for weeks at a stretch.  Much to the regret of the members, the day came to an end. But the memories that were created will be cherished and remembered. Few things can make a huge impact on happiness in life and friendship is one of them.
