We are all living in times of uncertainty, burdened by the economic crisis and skyrocketing inflation along with threats of the covid-19 pandemic still looming over us. While many of us strive to make a better living, the marginalized communities suffer more than usual to afford a good standard of living. As a club, the Rotaract Club of Kandy has always been keen on reaching out to the people who need our aid in the most crucial times.

Project ACT 3.0 is a community service project carried out for the third consecutive year successfully, where the targeted underprivileged families were donated dry ration packs. Thirty selected families with financial issues in Kandy city and its suburbs were donated dry ration packs worth over 5000 LKR each. The main objective of project ACT 3.0 was to stop the hunger in those families, even if that is just for two days or so. Most importantly, this project has given them hope that no matter what, there are people to lift them up when necessary, giving them assurance that they are not alone in this battle.  The project took place at the YMCA, Kandy on the 11th of August, 2022, and we were able to lend a helping hand to the eager families waiting for some sort of help to make get through another day.

As the saying goes, “We Rise by Lifting Others”, we are happy and satisfied as a club that we were able to do what we can to put a smile on their faces. Project ACT 3.0, being an initiative, started in days when the Covid 19 pandemic was at its peak; and with the pleasing hope of giving a helping hand to the people who deserve it, we are hopeful to continue for years to come.
