[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Over the past few years, the Rotaract Club of Kandy has been actively involved in creating awareness about Thalassemia eradication. Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down genetically (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form or inadequate amount of hemoglobin. The Thalassemia awareness program is one of the signature projects of the club. With the help of the Kandy National Hospital Thalassemia Control and Prevention Unit, this year, we organized an awareness session on Thalassemia followed by a screening camp for the youth (students) of the Augustawatte National Youth Corps (Jathika Yowuun Senangkaya). A group of 167 students along with 12 staff members were screened for Thalassemia on the 14th of January 2020.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][apress_photo_gallery images=”5283″ image_gutter=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
