Blueprint
According to Collins dictionary blueprint is described as “a plan or set or proposals that shows how it is expected to work”. Collins dictionary continues to explain that “A blueprint of an architect’s building plans or a designer’s patter is a photographic print consisting of white lines on a blue background”. Furthermore, it is also introduced in a different context when “A genetic blueprint is a pattern which is contained within all living cells. This pattern decides how the organism develops and what it looks like”. In British English blueprint is “an original plan or a prototype that influences subsequent design or practice. And in American English blueprint is defined as “any exact or detailed plan or outline. The word Blueprint was originated in 1985-90 and is being used in different contexts. Therefore it can be assumed that Blueprint, is a design plan which ensures that every detail of every milestone is achieved in a project and build consistency throughout the project even when one has to face uncertainties. Funnily enough a technical explanation for a technical subject was thought necessary.
In the Rotaract context blueprint for a project is the action plan of a project. The project “Blueprint” was executed as a professional development project with the intention of providing the necessary knowledge and skills for the members of the Rotaract club of Kandy when planning and executing a project. The project was conducted via an online platform on the 26th of July, 2020 by Past President Rtn. Tilani Subasinghe, Secretary for the year 2020-21. The project proved to be absolutely valuable as it educated the members about the correct and technical way of planning and successfully executing a project. The Rotaract club of Kandy plans and executes numerous projects during the year with its members, and providing them the proper knowledge and the necessary skills to carry out a project successfully is very much useful not in just the Rotaract context but also in their career prospects. The success of a project depends in the way how things are managed and overlooked from the point of generating the idea of the project to writing the report of the project. In order to assure that the project would not miss any details, having a blueprint of the project is important. And Rtn. Tilani Subasinghe conducted the project interactively making sure that the participants were clearly grasping the idea.
Professional development is like tuning a guitar. It helps one to be a better and improved version of oneself. The quality that can be produced is greater, and the achievements higher.
