The Rotaract Ifthar 2018 is a joint Project organized by the Rotaract Club of Kandy along with the Rotaract Clubs of Colombo North, Colombo Midtown, Colombo Fort, Centennial United, ACBT, Singer Sri Lanka, Wattala, Colombo West, Vavuniya, Jaffna Midtown, Chunnakam and Manipay.
The event was held on Saturday the 2nd of June 2018 at DRR Rtr. PP. Amjath Yoosuf,s place, Dehiwala with the participation of Rotaractors hailing from different religious backgrounds. They gathered to celebrate Ifthar (breaking fast) with snacks and traditional dinner while taking part in the various customs associated with this event.
The event was organized in hopes of promoting peace and unity among different religious communities by providing an opportunity for all Rotaractors to experience the customs and rituals of the festival.
The planning of the project began with the host clubs agreeing to conduct the Ifthar Celebrations. Following this a date and venue were finalized after checking with the district calendar. Registrations were carried out through Google forms and orders was placed for refreshments.
The project was publicized through an e-flyer which was circulated through WhatsApp, emails sent out to presidents and secretaries of other clubs and through an event page on Facebook.
